Mediacube, Chalandri

Media Cube is a digital agency created by young people with a vision, who place great emphasis on the quality of the physical workspace. The company’s offices are located on the third floor of a building on Kifissias Avenue, in Chalandri.

The building shell comprises glass panes with mirror surfaces, and interior spaces are for the most part divided by glass partitions.

This particular floor (320 m2), which used to be a spa, has successfully been converted into the following areas:

• Reception area that also serves as a lounge / alternative workspace
• 2 open space offices
• Managers’ offices
• 2 conference rooms
• Informal meetings area / alternative workspace
• Dining area for the lunch break

Due to the large number of glass surfaces, it was imperative that the space acoustics be improved, in order to serve the new office needs. An acoustics plan with detailed measurements was carried out, providing the basis around which the space was designed. For that reason, sound absorbing surfaces were designed and created using specialized fabrics, which played a great part in determining the rest of the design. Special construction sound absorbing panels were placed on ceilings, walls, glass partitions, mirrors, and also suspended from ceilings, significantly improving the space’s acoustics. The panels’ form develops across the spaces via linear elements and repetitive geometric shapes, creating optical escapes that accentuate the way the space is perceived.

The naturally preserved and dyed moss is the focal point at the main entrance (as the company logo’s background), and at the managers’ office (as a wall cladding motif). This natural material complements the space’s modern colors, providing a fresh and natural effect, in addition to its sound absorbing qualities
